A natural health remedy is something you use or do to create or maintain good health without the use of prescription drugs, chemicals or invasive procedures. There are tons of natural things you can do and use to create a healthier body. Natural remedies include food, vitamins, herbs, exercise, rest and relaxation, emotional balancing, body cleanses and avoiding chemicals.

Natural health care uses as many natural things possible to create a healthy body. Prescription drugs are not natural. They are created in a laboratory consisting of many different unnatural elements. Prescription drugs definitely have there place but as a society we are all taking to many prescription drugs. We need to get to the root of our disease naturally instead of covering up the symptoms with drugs.

What people don’t realize is that food is one of our biggest natural drugs! Food effects our health in so many different ways. Most of the time we just look at food as a way to fill that empty growling feeling in our stomach or as something to use as the center of our social gatherings. Food alone is causing many people to get sick and die. Obesity is rising near the top of the list as one of the biggest causes of death among Americans. That is only one of the problems that eating wrong can cause. Just to name a few others is diabetes, heart disease and high cholesterol. The list of food related health issues is much longer it just hasn’t been accepted in the mainstream. Using a natural health remedy is not usually one of the first suggestions you will get when visiting the doctors office.

When you choose unprocessed foods, drink clean healthy water, exercise, get proper rest, have appropriate exposure to the sun and avoid chemicals and pollutants your body can actually work the way it was designed to work.

Vitamins and herbs are also a natural way to get and stay healthy. They are natural nutritional supplements that have been used for thousands of years all around the world as a major tool in healing. They are very powerful and can be misused so you must make sure you understand how to use them safely with the guidance of a doctor or herbalist.

There are natural therapies you can use such as accupressure, accupuncture, aromatherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic, EFT (emotional freedom technique), deep breathing and many others. These are some of the most common therapies listed here.

Vitamins, minerals and herbs are healthy supplements you can add to your diet. Unfortunately much of the food we eat is deficient in nutrients for a variety of reasons. This is because of mineral deficient soil that the food is grown in, but also because of overcooking our food. While eating healthy whole foods is the very best way to get your vitamins, taking supplements and using herbs can fill in the gaps of some of those deficiencies. Remember that taking supplements cannot make up for an unhealthy diet.

There are thirteen vitamins your body needs. They are A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, C, D, E and K. If you go into a supplement store you will see a lot more than thirteen things to choose from. They also sell many other things that are helpful in regaining and maintaining good health. When you research a certain health problem, you will find suggestions for what to use for that particular problem. Lots of vitamins are contained in fruits and vegetables.

Minerals are often the overlooked power house. They are just as essential as vitamins, and they work together. Sometimes you just can’t get enough of what you need from your food alone. The human body can’t produce minerals so we have to get them from our food, water or supplementation. Luckily, you can supplement with minerals to get what you need. Here are just a few so you can identify what they are: calcium, chromium, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sodium, and zinc. That is just a small list of some common ones. There are two types of minerals, macrominerals and trace. There are more than sixty minerals present in the body but only twenty-two of them are considered essential.

Herbs can be very powerful. Even though they are considered nutritional supplements, they can be as strong as a drug and have been used in drugs. For example, asprin and morphine are both originally derived from natural sources, tree bark and a plant. Before taking any herbs, make sure there is no conflict between the herb and any medication you are already taking. You should talk about it with your doctor first. Doctors are not always educated in many of the herbs available, but they should be able to help you decide if something is okay for you to use with a little research.

So, the question is what whole food nutrition is and and why it is so valuable. Whole food nutrition works in a balanced, natural way by giving the body everything it needs to unleash its own powerful self healing abilities. Since whole foods are created by nature, all of their parts work together to build up the body’s health from the inside out. This is very different from isolated nutrients or from medicines which target one specific symptom and do not benefit the overall health of the body.

As for vitamin and mineral supplements, they are often synthetic and our bodies do not even recognize them as food. Reports of portable toilet maintenance personnel reveal that vast numbers of supplements pass through the digestive tract intact. They even tell of being able to read the brand names on the synthetic supplements.

Aphanizomenon flos aquae (AFA), a wild-grown species of blue green algae, is considered to be one of the best whole food sources. Farming practices of the last 100 years have resulted in depleted soils and nutritionally empty food. Blue green algae, on the other hand, is a natural, whole food containing more than 70 micro-nutrients necessary for vibrant health. It grows like blades of grass in a mineral-rich, freshwater lake in southern Oregon. It’s harvested wild and immediately frozen, retaining 97% of its nutrients. It’s available in capsules, tablets, and powder.

AFA provides us with nutrients no longer contained in our every day food due to effects of soil depletion, over-processing, etc. When nutritional gaps are met, our bodies naturally shift to a higher level of functioning.

Among the commonly reported benefits are:

Increased Energy

Sounder Sleep

Natural Weight Control

Stronger Immune System Improved Digestion

Better Concentration and Mood

A Sense of Well-Being

Enhanced Mental Clarity

Improved Athletic Performance

As a matter of fact, there is no no other food on the market today which is tested as extensively as Blue Green Algae. It is usually tested far beyond governmental requirements by several independent internationally certified and recognized labs as well as the in-house Research and Development Team. This is one of the purest foods you could put in your body.

It is possible to buy algae at a health food store. There are several companies that now harvest algae from Upper Klamath Lake.

Still algae can not be fully safe for everybody. For example, women who are already pregnant are advised to wait. The simple reason: there are so many changes in a woman’s body during pregnancy that making significant dietary changes is not a good idea.
